A solo concert for clarinet (and bass clarinet) that works with the very special acoustics and reverbs of the Sankt Florian’s Marmorsaal and evocating Gregorian up to Monteverdi and Gesualdo da Venosa. Tenebrae (Latin for “darkness”) is a religious service of Western Christianity.
It is a clarinet rich in technical and timbre inventions, thus sometimes making a timbral memory appear, borrowed from practices and memories of electronic musical culture. Tenebrae is a religious service held during the three days preceding Easter, and characterized by gradual extinguishing of candles, and by a “strepitus” or “loud noise” taking place in total darkness near the end of the service. Has as been created for Ars Electronica Festival.
