Similarly to one of his manuscript pages, Funkhaus Heiner Müller is an electric field. Transceiver station, a device that creates vibrations, discharges, flashes, glows, shadows, falls, faults between inside and outside. Alchemical place where materials are transformed. Place activated by the History and the people. Every geographical place of presentation enters the title and makes it unique.
The episodes are created through a short workshop in which people of any background can participate. The performances / broadcasting can happen in theatres and radio studios but also while travellling on trains, trams, from a bar or even from the street. They can involve from 2 to dozens of people.
A serial radio format that has illustrious examples, just think of Orson Welles with his Mercury Theater on the Air (1938-1946).
The piece is premiered in Weimar on the 26th July 2019 during the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus.
