Atlas Linz is an author website by and with Isabella Bordoni and Roberto Paci Dalò: begun as a first “work in progress” investigation in 1998, it later became an archive of sounds, images and texts dedicated, in its entirety, to Linz. The ensemble of materials subsequently gave form to a radio piece broadcast by ORF – Kunstradio.
The driving force is the intention to analyse the soundscape of the city, through research into sound within the context of urban life, starting from architectural and historical parameters integrated with visual materials from the city archives. Atlas Linz is a, non-physical, place of both scientific consultation and exploration. During the “European Month of Culture 1998” held in Linz in September, Atlas Linz also took the form of an installation in the city’s public spaces.
