In the installation Microcosmo di natura a light / sound device is created that operates on the objects of the “Museo di Ulisse Aldrovandi” room (defined by Aldrovandi himself as a “microcosm of nature”) of the Museo di Palazzo Poggi, creating a narrative that, through digital technologies, gives visibility (and a voice) to some of the objects displayed in the display cases. The performance was repeated in a loop over the course of the White night within Artefiera.
A tribute to Ulisse Aldrovandi (considered the founder of modern natural history) who collected in his home something like 18.000 “diversities of natural things” and 7.000 dried plants in fifteen volumes. Microcosmo di natura reflects on the extraordinariness of archives and museums as generators of possibilities for contemporary art. Places experienced as found objects within which the materials themselves on display become at the same time object and subject of artistic creation in a systematic artistic-scientific investigation. The images of the performance are created in collaboration with Emo 14c0 aka Emanuele Russo.
